No. Because our care is highly personalized we do not have a standard set of lab tests that we order on everyone. Usually, you will receive a lab order after the first visit as part of your OutSmart Cancer® Plan.
Will my insurance company cover lab fees?
All insurance policies are different. If you need verification, call your insurance company and speak to an adjuster.
Usually a PPO plan will cover most of the lab tests ordered.
Bring your insurance card with you to the lab or provide a copy of your insurance card to the mobile phlebotomist who collects your blood sample. If your insurance company does not provide coverage, we can order your tests through LabCorp or Quest Diagnostics discounted CashPay Program. This saves 1/3 to 1/2 the retail patient price and requires payment via credit card at the time the order is placed. Discounted fees may not be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement.
How are my labs ordered? Where to I go to get my blood collected or give my urine sample?
We provide you with a Lab Order (a lab requisition form) as a printable PDF
We typically order from LabCorp or Quest Diagnostics which are found in all 50 states and who will bill your insurance directly if you provide a copy of your insurance card.
Print your Lab Order and take it with you to your local Labcorp or QuestDiagnostics Patient Service Center. (find a location at labcorp.com or questidiagnostics.com)
Bring your Insurance Card with you to the lab so they can bill your insurance.
If you are a Medicare patient, an MD or DO must place the lab order so that your claims can be submitted to Medicare by the Lab
We also order from a few specialty labs. Usually, an at home collection kit will be shipped directly to you from the lab.
Do I fast for my blood tests?
At the top of your lab order you will find instructions that indicate if you must fast for your blood tests. If you are required to fast, please refrain from all food, calories, caffeine and alcohol for 10-12 hours in advance.
